Really--we&#039;re talking hundreds of thousands of dollars for  lessons, airport fees, hangar fees, etc. etc. etc.

Also, you&#039;d need to get additional training if you wanted to be a licensed pilot for more than small aircraft--say, if you wanted to fly commercial charters or cargo or passenger.

Most people get into flying by enlisting in the air force, navy, or marines.  Then you earn money while training!  Air force people who specialize in the big cargo planes and troop carriers transition easily to commercial passenger work--which is not as great as it used to be since the execs at Delta and other badly-run airlines have sucked up all the profits--but still nice work if you like to fly.</description>
