Private Planes

I’m thinking of becoming a part time pilot, Not as a airline pilot OR an army pilot, too much traveling & being away from my family (for the moment anyway.)

I’ve always had it as a dream, to become a pilot, And now I’m wondering what i need to make that dream come true.
It seems to cost a bit, but not grand amounts really.
but my major query is;

what things do you need to have to be qualified to get a PPL? (Private Plane License)
Does it matter if you are slightly shorted sighted if you’re going to wear glasses/contact lenses to ‘correct’ this?
